HARRIET AND MAT | MARRIED

Mat claimed to be a terrible public speaker. I'm not so sure though. He spoke from the heart - and I think that's all that matters.

Nestled under tree tops, on Harriet's parent's farm, Mat shared his words with honesty.

'From today, I can call Harriet my wife,' he said, smiling from both sides of his mouth.

For me, that was powerful.

When Harriet emailed me, she had surrendered to the fact that I would already be unavailable on her wedding day. I'm so grateful that wasn't the case.

      It sure is. Harriet describes herself as a bowerbird and her brother pointed the nest out to me :)

    this has to be the most beautiful wedding story i have seen. photographed with gorgeous simplicity and the story from the top to the bottom captured me. made me want to get married again. on the farm with my friends. stuff the pretentious chapel and expensive receptions venue. i loved this.

      Hi there - this is Harriet. I printed the silk & organza for my dress using leaves from places of significance to us then I had a someone make the dress to my design. It was OK, but my dressmaker had never done a wedding dress before and she kind of ran out of time so my Mum was still sewing as I put it on! I read a book by India Flint called Eco Colour for guidance.

      I am going to do a photo-journal post on my blog www.harrietgoodall.com next week which will go through the process for anyone who is interested in how i made it. You might want to check in and have a look at it.

    You have truly inspired me! A wonderful and relaxed wedding - how it should be. We are getting married in August this year and our wedding is rather different; we are dressing as Victorians and our guests have the choice of wearing clothing from 1830 through to the 1950's as we are celebrating 'those who have gone before'. Our reception is on a steam train. Hopefully the weather in our part of the UK will behave itself that day!
