It might seem a bit strange, choosing to shoot family portraits at a skate park and sports fields. There is a very special reason for it.


Amor explained it, "Gene use to skateboard there. It is one of the last places he hung out the day before and the night he passed. People in Cherrybrook paid tribute to him by expressing their feelings through graffitti in the bowl and surrounding walls. He took Kel and Shem to footy practice when they were little. We would watch the boys play footy there too".


When I heard that, I knew we had to shoot there.
