NYC

We're tucked in, real warm and snug, while NYC does what it does just outside our windows. The boy sleeps, Kesh just had Shake Shack for the second night in a row and snow is predicted this weekend.

We've got a little over a week to go and if you know us (Kesh, especially), you'll know that we love food. We'd sure appreciate any food recommendations you might have for Manhattan :)

Here are a few images from our first night, here in New York. I love that they look different to any others I've shot.

  7. I'm Becky's friend Christina. I love Becky and I think I'm gonna love you too because you guys are the only other couple I can say we "know" that had the GREAT idea to purchase a Stokke. We used the Stokke every day with our daughter who is now 5 and contemplated another child just so we didn't have to sell our Stokke! (you think I jest!)

Shake Shack only cuts it so far....you are in serious luck....NYC Restaurant Week is in full swing (Jan 14th-Feb 8th) and you can eat at some of NYC's most famous digs for $25 for lunch or $35 per person for multi course meals this week and next.

    Here's a link:http://www.nycgo.com/restaurantweek
Many of these restaurants have the menus right on the link and are only a fraction of the price they'd be the rest of the year.

    Talk about timing!

If you like Yogurt head on down to Soho to the new Chobani shop on the corner of West Broadway and Prince....for $6 you'll two yogurt parfaits that will knock your socks off...I had a salmon and dill one and my hubby had a fig, walnut and honey one...made to order (this is NOT frozen yogurt...its gourmet parfaits that are amazing......made to order. Many other SoHo restaurants participate in restaurant week (check that link) and its my favorite place to be down there! Enjoy NYC! Christina

  13. Hi guys,
New York is my most favorite city in the world. Recently my sister introduced me to the coolest little place...

The Neue Galerie New York (German for: "New Gallery") is a museum of early twentieth-century German and Austrian art and design located at 86th Street and Fifth Avenue in New York City. They have 2 restaurants. Go to the one in the basement it has the same food but just more relaxed! They have the best german sausage and strudels. The hot chocolates are also amazinG! its also really easy to get too!

  14. I love these photos! They bring back so many memories. My family-friendly loved Norma's in the Parker Meridian for brunch, by the way. Although the servings were so big that we could have survived on one of those meals for a week! We loved Dean & Deluca as well, and a vegan fast food place -- I think it was called otarian, but I can't quite remember.

  15. Kesh sounds like someone I would get along well with! I'm reminded of the quote from Julia Child: "People who love to eat are always the best people." Hope you guys are enjoying your visit in our country!

  16. Get a banana pudding from Magnolia Bakery - an absolute MUST.

You are making me miss NYC so, so much. It was exactly a year today that I began the best holiday in my entire life there. It truly is the best city in the world.

  23. So many places to eat. Shake Shack in East Village is awesome (but cold in winter!). Any Momofuku (though the milk bar is my fave - cereal milk milkshake is the BEST). Katz's for a life changing sandwich experience. If you get a night off to go to a bar - PDT (Please Don't Tell). The Donut Plant is crazy good. Head on up to Harlem for some soul food too (we went to Amy Ruth's). Just don't eat for like 6 hours beforehand. The portions are enormous. But it is the best fried chicken!

My friend created this map and shared it with me before my first NYC visit. It is a bit overwhelming - just choose a few places near where you're staying.

Oh, and if you're in the market for new photography gear or electronics, you cannot go past B&H Photo and Video. They even do second hand gear. It is crazy busy and crazy cheap. Service is really good, too. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ They are near one end of the High Line on the West Side.
