FAMILY ON VIDEO | THE GRANGERS

For something like the third time in the history of their children, Jeremy and Stacey left their most special ones with a babysitter.

Kesh did most of the babysitting.

When the little ones were tucked away, I snuck in to check they were ok. I peered through the sheets of the home-made double bunk bed fort and saw Fallon, fast asleep. Soft and dreamy.

My soon-to-be Papa heart stopped for just a moment. I took it in, and then melted.

...

You might not know this, but I love to shoot video. And I'm thinking about incorporating it into the business.

A family portrait will look something like this.

Music: Caspian Epochs in Dmaj. Available on iTunes here.

For the camera heads, this was shot entirely on my Canon 5D Mark II and TS-E 45mm f/2.8. I don't normally shoot video on the tilt shift but I felt like doing something different.

THE GRANGER FAMILY

Jeremy and Stacey aren't people I met through taking photos. They are my friends. And that changes things.

You see that little guy down there, finger pointing to the horizon? That's Ry. I see him almost every Sunday. He sits in church with his two sisters. They always have perfect hair and look up at their Dad who sits on the stand.

We cook meals for each other and spend time in each other's homes. I've bounced the girls on my knees until I cramped up and they always come back for more.

Stace follows my blog. When she sees a shoot she especially loves, she'll let me know and I really appreciate that.

Humans, we have this thing going on. Most of us feel like there are people out there cooler than us, with better, cleaner, bigger homes. People who live in magazines and heck, maybe even on my blog (as I'm learning). Stace felt like this.

I'm so glad that we did this. I'm so happy that this family is on my blog. Now you can all see how beautiful they are, on the inside just as much.

I'm not looking for people with the best home and most expensive clothes. If you have those things, awesome. Seriously, that is really great. But if you don't, I don't care. I care about people, who you are, not what you have.

THE GRANGER FAMILY | PREVIEW

I was sitting in the Granger's hallway on Monday night, perched on a piece of carpet outside the bathroom doorway with my camera around my neck. We'd spent the afternoon together. Them, in my home, and me, in theirs.

Jeremy was bathing his children. The ultimate act of love and service. From the floor, I looked up to Stacey and verbalised my thoughts.

'How special is what I get to do'.

It was a moment of realisation, maybe more so than ever before.

You will meet them soon, Jeremy and Stacey.
