k-man

Family is a very special thing. When you think about it, family is what makes you who you are.

Today, I spent time with this whole other family of four: Cindy, Dan, Matilda and Kenzie. Four amazing human beings.

More on this very cool family shortly. In the mean time, enjoy this shot of K-Man getting some love from his Dad.

Kids Have Kids

When there are six kids in your family, it's pretty rare that you get together. The babies in the family are twins, and they turned twenty this year. Yes, T-W-E-N-T-Y. The kids are growing up.

But you know how it is. Kids have kids and stuff...

We all got together last week. I liked it. Family is super important to me.

These Little Ones

I remember when each of these kids were born. Jaxson (the guy eating a sandwich in the last photo) was first, and I was only in year nine back then. To put that in perspective, this year I'll be twenty seven.

When Tee Tee (pictured fifth, with the mean tongue) said hello to the world, I was living in Japan and had to wait to meet this special little lady. She began life as Jahleel before T-E-A-N-U was finally spelled out on her birth certificate.

The kids in these photos are growing up. Maybe a little faster than their Mums and Dads would like. I love it though. Meet: Chanel, Paris, Phoenix, Abbie, Teanu, Annie, Logan, Ella, Jet and Jaxson - ten of the coolest kids ever.

Words With Friends

Have you heard about Words With Friends? It's kinda crazy how addicted my family is. You can probably blame that on my Nanna Coulson and the amount of Scrabble games we used to play with her growing up.

This is Dad and Rachel...I mean Alisa getting their fix.

Max's First Steps

Little ones are part of my family. I've got eleven nieces and nephews and Kesh has nine, so there are twenty between us. Max is the baby of the twenty, barely a year old.

Today, we were talking about how agile, mobile and super fast this guy is. Like a super crawler, or something. Beth (Max's Mum) mentioned that he should be walking but hadn't started yet. I am happy to report that these six images are Max taking some of his first steps - just a few moments after our conversation. It's like he was listening to us or something...

Father-In-Law

Kesh is half Vinson, half Carden. Kesh’s Mum is the Carden and her Dad the Vinson.

Mum Carden never scared me. She was full of smiles, kind words and cooking so good, you’d swear she wrote a cook book. (Actually, she did).

Dad Vinson was a scary figure in the days I was courting Kesh. I think it’s something that comes with being a Father to (especially) girls. Kesh is the baby girl. And I was dating his baby girl.

I was a twenty-something year old with strange haircuts (plural), an early attempt at a beard and denim seemingly painted on my legs.

Almost three years have past since I first met Dad Vinson. I’m not scared of him anymore, not even a little bit. You see, he’s all front, a huge softie. He loves cuddles, gets emotional and would rather watch The Bill or Heartbeat over anything else.

As a Father-in-law, Dad Vinson is about as good as it can get. The thing that I see now that I didn’t see in the beginning is love. So much of it that my stumbled words could never adequately express it. He and Mum Vinson have a bond so real they could make honeymooners look unhappy, unsure and out-of-love.

The thing I know about Dad Vinson, more than anything else is that he loves his family. Full stop.

Oh yeah, Dad Vinson is sixty years old, as of Saturday. Just sayin’.
