THE GRANGER FAMILY

Jeremy and Stacey aren't people I met through taking photos. They are my friends. And that changes things.

You see that little guy down there, finger pointing to the horizon? That's Ry. I see him almost every Sunday. He sits in church with his two sisters. They always have perfect hair and look up at their Dad who sits on the stand.

We cook meals for each other and spend time in each other's homes. I've bounced the girls on my knees until I cramped up and they always come back for more.

Stace follows my blog. When she sees a shoot she especially loves, she'll let me know and I really appreciate that.

Humans, we have this thing going on. Most of us feel like there are people out there cooler than us, with better, cleaner, bigger homes. People who live in magazines and heck, maybe even on my blog (as I'm learning). Stace felt like this.

I'm so glad that we did this. I'm so happy that this family is on my blog. Now you can all see how beautiful they are, on the inside just as much.

I'm not looking for people with the best home and most expensive clothes. If you have those things, awesome. Seriously, that is really great. But if you don't, I don't care. I care about people, who you are, not what you have.

Dear Tim. I just wanted to tell you that 5 days ago I discovered your website, and you have quickly become one of my all time favourite photographers. Your photos and your style are hugely inspiring. I think you are awesome. So...if you ever find yourself in Vancouver, Canada I would love to hire you to do some family photos. And congratulations on becoming three. Chlidren are awesome...sometimes smelly and loud...but truly a gift. XO

  10. this group of shots are my favourite i've seen so far. maybe because they remind me of my own family growing up..

i don't know you in real life but you seem pretty cool. and you also took a picture of a guy i met totally out of the blue. he is the guy in new zealand with the piano. my best friends mum had just died two days before from a long battle with cancer. i was in wanaka, a way from my hometown and my friend, and my own family. i was taking myself for a walk when i heard a piano. and there he was, sitting outside the new world playing this piano on wheels. i watched him until he stopped and then he let me have a turn and i played for almost an hour. afterwards he said, where did your music come from? and i said it comes out of my shoulders and i don't even think about it. and he said we were meant to meet and shook my hand, and told me how he'd saved the piano from a family who were moving and couldn't pay to transport it but couldn't give it away. and they were so happy that it was found at a cash converters place by this guy from belgium. i never saw his piano in real life again and still when I think about it , that the universe arranged that for me ..

sorry for taking over your comment box but i saw that you liked stories - and there is one for you. did you meet the guy from belgium?

  11. I love this shoot. Possibly because they are a cool looking family and possibly because I relate to those words. When you wrote to me all those months back proposing a shoot they were all my fears too. Now I really wish we had had a chance to get together on the road on our caravan trip somewhere. one day...
