KESH | 33 WEEKS

Last Sunday, a well meaning individual we've never met asked Kesh how her pregnancy was going.

Kesh explained to her that it has been a beautiful pregnancy, with minimal complaints. The friendly stranger told Kesh that she would undoubtedly have a terrible labour experience 'because that's the way it goes. If you have a good pregnancy, labour is terrible'.

Wow.

I only wish that I was there when this conversation took place. Kesh is the sweetest person ever. I asked her what she said in reply. 'Nothing, I just smiled and left it at that'.

Birth for us is not a terrible thing. Birth is not scary. Birth is beautiful. It's full of love.

Today, Kesh realised that she will only need six more outfits for these shoots (or thereabouts). This pregnancy has been incredible. I've seen Kesh's body grow and change into what you see below. And it's beautiful. I love every shape and curve inside that purple dress. I wouldn't change a single thing.

Tomorrow we head up to the Southern Highlands for a two day workshop on birth. And when the workshop ends, we will be thirty four weeks pregnant.

I'm really excited :)

  3. That may have been the 'friendly stranger's' truth but doesn't mean it will be yours also. My truth has only been (5 out of 5) ridiculous effort rewarded with ridiculous joy and love. I hope this will be your truth about birth also. Dee~

  4. It blows my mind what some people will say to a pregnant woman. If its any consolation I had three beautiful pregnancies & three beautiful births..

  5. Oh my, well neither of my pregnancies were terribly tough, no complications and apart from the normal changes that cause a bit less sleep and a bit slower walks they were a fabulous journey... Both my deliveries were a million miles apart and the one that was worse than the other?... I would take it twice over to have that feeling back of giving life to me and my man... See you got me jealous again..

  6. Mesh wears pregnancy so beautifully. I can't imagine that birth will suit her less.

The thing about birth is that it is uniquely Kesh's and your baby's story and a little bit your story. Each story is special and different and unknown until it is written. x

  8. It's funny what people choose to say in a moment like that. Trying to connect but just getting it oh so wrong! For what it's worth I had three pretty smooth pregnancies and three amazing water births (the last one was 10 months ago after doing the calm birth course and was the best of all three). Kesh looks stunning and your words about her are equally beautiful.

  9. Honestly, don't understand why some people don't think before they speak. But anyway..... Good on Kesh for being so gracious. She sounds like she is as beautiful inside as she looks on the outside.

Birth IS beautiful. And you guys will do great, because you guys are such a great team. I couldn't have gone through birth four times without my husband by my side.

  14. Poor Kesh! Major foot in mouth moment for that person...unfathomable why you'd say that!
Radiant and pensive are the words, that come to mind with these shots....oh and a momentary thought that no matter how prepared you are the pain is still a shocker:))

  17. So beautiful! And good grief, foot in mouth. My dad had cancer a few years back and I remember telling my school class about it and one kid going, "You know he could die." Some people speak without thinking. Anyways, so excited for you two! :)

  21. I hope you're enjoying the calmbirth weekend! It was one of the best things my husband and I did to prepare for our last birth. Did you have Peter? He's such a lovely lovely man. Good luck for the rest of your pregnancy and birth.

  22. It always amazed me, when pregnant, that I became 'public property'. Complete strangers thought nothing of putting their hands on my stomach and people constantly offered all sorts of unwanted input/advice. Such an odd thing at such a precious time. Whatever, I say... they have no bearing on your beautiful reality x C

  23. giving birth was the most empowering and humbling experience I have ever been through. for each person it is so different. and we neither were handed any more or any less than what we were able to handle. enjoy these last few weeks - they are so precious and exciting all at once.

  24. Once you see your baby for the first time, it doesn't matter what the birth was like at all. I can't believe someone said that, how rude!

  25. How silly of that person, and how incredibly composed of Kesh to just smile and nod and move on. Bravo! You're right Tim, birth is beautiful and full of love. So full! I've had some pretty great times, but nothing will ever come close to the amazingness of the three nights my three babies were born. Pain in childbirth might be the curse, but praise God for the joy and love He still gives in the process! Would love to hear more about your birth workshop. xx
